Before Stockholm has completely recovered from the Varnish pop-up, Bartenders’ Choice Awards are at it again – this time they’ve invited Alex Day from Proprietors LLC, co-owner of a number of America’s most successful and prestigious bars like Death & Co, Honeycut, One Fifty One and Nitecap. Recently, they also released the beautiful and extensive book Death & Co – Modern Classic Cocktails which definitely should be in any serious cocktail aficionado’s bookshelf.

On October 31 (Death & Co pop-up) and November 1 (Nitecap pop-up), Alex Day together with Nitecap co-owner and head bartender Natasha David will serve some of their signature creations and immortal classics at Story Hotel here in Stockholm. The low-lit speakeasy Death & Co certainly doesn’t need an introduction, as it has been one of the most influential bars in the world since the opening in 2006. Nitecap is more of a neighbourhood bar which opened around six months ago, and was recently named Best New Bar New York 2014 by Village Voice. In other words: cancel all other plans this weekend, because it’s an unique opportunity you definitely shouldn’t miss!

An example of what’ll be on the menu during the Nitecap bar takeover is this little thing:

Midnight Rider
30 ml Jameson
30 ml apple brandy
20 ml Pineau
1 dash Orange Bitters
1 barspoon inlagd persikojuice

Put all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir with ice cubes. Strain into a coupette and finish with an orange zest.
