On September 17, I was at the Edrington headquarters here in Stockholm attending the Swedish finals of Bols around the Nordics competition. Twelve bartenders from around the country had qualified by submitting a cocktail recipe with either Bols Watermelon or Bols Elderflower, and now it was time for them to show off in front of a jury – who judged the taste, practicality and originality of the cocktail as well as presentation. For the finals, the contestants were able to choose between presenting their previously submitted cocktail or a completely new signature cocktail using any Bols liqueur and also Bols Genever.
After a long day of bar training and competing, the jury finally came to a verdict – and the two winners who impressed the judges the most and will represent Sweden in the Nordic finals in Amsterdam on November 12-13 are Robin Andersson (Punch, Halmstad) and Christoffer Johansson (Puta Madre, Gothenburg) – congratulations! The best bartender in the Nordics will then make it to the semi-final of the Bols Around the World competition in May 2014, so fingers crossed for Robin and Christoffer!
